After-Holiday Season is Remodeling Season

It may not have seemed likely, but you did it. You made it through the holiday season. The decorations have come down, the in-laws have gone home, and (most importantly) your bank account is recovering. Now that you’ve finally finished all the errands, gifts, and travel arrangements that were really for the benefit of everyone else, it’s about time you did something for yourself.

It may not seem like it, but this is the perfect time of year to undertake a kitchen remodeling or bathroom remodeling project. If you’ve been dreaming of the perfect kitchen or bath (or if hosting family for the holidays forced you to realize that it’s time for a change), these are the best months to undertake a new project. Why, you ask? Well, there are actually a handful of really good reasons. Let’s look at those a bit.

Reason #1: Your Finances are Recovering

Ok, ok. I realize I had to specify that they’re “recovering” and not “recovered.” Just a few weeks ago, you probably shelled out way too much money making sure everyone had just the perfect gift. A gaming system here, a smartphone there, even a bevvy of gift cards -they all add up pretty quickly. However, if there’s one good thing about the way you spend money during the holiday season, it’s that the months following seem much more manageable since you’ve gotten used to scrimping and saving here and there to make the budget work.

That means now is the perfect time to look into renovating your kitchen cabinets, or updating the bathroom countertops, or finally adding that walk-in shower you’ve always wanted. Your budget is on the rebound, and you can afford to spend a little bit on something that will be a long-term benefit. Take advantage of the decrease in your spending and get the kitchen or bathroom you’ve always dreamed of!

Reason #2: Tax Return Season is Upon Us

Speaking of your more flexible budget, there’s another big perk coming up around the corner: tax return season. If you’re like most people, you’re probably expecting to get at least some amount of cold, hard cash back from Uncle Sam. Sure, you can wait for that tax return to officially come in to start your project, or you can take advantage of our current specials and 0% financing options and then pay off the remainder of your project once that big, fat check comes in.

Since most contractors pick up the majority of their work in the late spring and summer, it’s likely much more beneficial to get ahead of the curve and take advantage of the opportunity now. You’ve got the money coming, so when you add that to your more relaxed budget post-Holiday Season, it all makes for a perfect opportunity to invest in your home’s long-term value.

Reason #3: Contractors are Wheeling and Dealing

Piggy-backing off that last paragraph, this is the slower time of the year for most contractors. Knowing that can help you save thousands on your next project! Since this is the slower time of the business year, most contractors are willing to work on lower profit margins in order to keep the revenue flowing. That means you can get the exact same service, exact same materials, and exact same finished project for less.

Plus, since the contractors are doing less business overall, you’re much more likely to see your project completed faster, and you’ll have more scheduling flexibility. Once the busy season hits, it will become harder to get the project done on a timeline that fits your schedule, since contractors will be juggling multiple projects at once, or even be back-logged for months in advance due to the amount of work coming in.

So, do yourself a favor and take advantage of the fact that most consumers are not hiring contractors right now. It can be your key to getting a much less expensive and smoother remodeling project.

Reason #4: Winter – err, I mean Spring – is Coming

Sorry, I had a flashback to last season of Game of Thrones there for a moment. Aside from that, the mid-winter (now) is the perfect time to start your project because it means that spring is coming up.

During the spring, everyone emerges from their winter slumber and starts attending house parties, barbecues, cook-outs and March Madness viewing parties. All that hosting means that you’ll have more people in your home on a more consistent basis. It never fails, outside of the living room, the bathroom and kitchen are the two rooms most frequently visited by guests. If you want to get ahead of the curve and make sure you’ve got the kitchen or bathroom to make your friends and neighbors jealous, now is the time to make it happen.

The last thing you want to do is make the mistake that most people make: waiting until spring for the project to start. If you do that, all those hosting events will either get cancelled (and you’ll be the friends that doesn’t socialize with the group) or you’ll be undergoing a remodel while hosting events (and you’ll be the friends that nobody wants to visit). Neither option is good.

And finally, our last reason…

Reason #5: A Dream Kitchen or Bath is a Much Better Valentine’s Gift than a Stuffed Bear

I’m going to let you in on a little secret. No matter what your significant other says, a stuffed teddy bear and a rose from Valero is not anyone’s definition of a romantic gesture. You know what will help make their Valentine’s Day a hit? Finally having the new kitchen or bathroom they’ve been bugging you about for months.

Luckily for you, there’s still time to start a new project and have it completely finished by Valentine’s Day. In fact, most of our remodeling projects are completed in under three weeks, including planning and prep.

So do yourself a favor: save some money, get ahead of the curve, create a kitchen and bathroom you’re not ashamed to have your friends visit, and make your loved one’s dreams come true by taking the plunge and investing in your new kitchen or bathroom this month. When you’re ready to get started, contact our team, visit our showroom to see all of our designs and options, or use our visualizers to create the perfect space for your home.
