Top Five Kitchen Trends of 2023

With another new year upon us, it’s time to look at the top trends to expect in home decor and style for the year. As we’ve done previously, we’re going to share the top trends that we expect to see in 2023 and let you in on the secret before they’re completely completely commonplace. Just remember, the professionals at New Generation Kitchen & Bath can help you tackle each one of these customized designs and make sure you’ve got a trendy kitchen space that you’ll love for years to come.

1. DARK METALS (AND NOT JUST BLACK)

Don’t get us wrong – we love brass and stainless steel as much as the next guy (or maybe more, since kitchen design is kind of what we do), but over the past year or so, there’s been a shift toward darker metals for faucets and handles. All indications seem to point to that staying true and even expanding for 2023. As more homeowners move away from the all white and steel feel of the mid-2000s, oil-rubbed bronze, blackened steel and antique-toned metals will have their time to shine.

2. FLORALS OR NATURESCAPES

Let’s get decorative! Because people tend to be VERY careful in their decorative choices in their kitchens sometimes a beautiful choice, like a handpainted mural or floral accents, is avoided. Hopefully, that ends this year.

However, if you don’t have the space or budget for a big nature art moment, you can always add it in an unconventional way! A Gracie wallpaper sample hung on the end of the cabinetry is such a fun addition that’s totally unexpected (in placement and material). You don’t always need a big piece to make an impactful statement.

3. LARGE SCALE TILES

While small-scale tiles really hit the design scene in a big way last year, this year is more “go big or go home” which I appreciate in design and in life. And look, small scale is not out, marble is also NOT out, but it’s time to make a little room for these large scale tiles:)

Large-scale tiles aren’t just for floors and walls…they work for counters and islands too. Give your home an upgraded look with large tiles that make your surfaces look like they may just be one large slab.

4. PILL-SHAPED ISLANDS

Now let’s talk about THE kitchen island of 2023 – The Pill-Shaped Island. It breaks up the harsh edges of your kitchen to create a more natural, flowy experience. It’s modern in nature but can easily work in a more traditional kitchen with the right materials, of course. I think it’s just a pretty option, especially when you want to break up the shapes in your kitchen design.

5. TWO-TONED COLORFUL CABINETS

For my neutral-averse friends, fear not. This next one is all about color! And more than one…in the same room. We all love a white and black, white and wood, white and navy two-toned cabinet combo. But this year is all about taking a chance on color. By two-toned, we really mean multi-toned. Combine some irregular combinations to give your kitchen a unique, stylish, and bright aesthetic.

With that, we put a bow on the top five kitchen design trends of 2023. For more updated info, be sure to check out our blog regularly, and call New Generation Kitchen & Bath for all your San Antonio kitchen and bathroom remodeling needs!
